Wella Illumina Color is a permanent cream colour for natural-looking, multidimensional results. Microlight technology helps maintain the hair's ability to reflect light at the surface, revealing lighter and darker nuances within the colour.
The range is designed for root colouring, colour changes and, in specific services, toning lightened hair. An appropriate formula offers up to 100% grey coverage and up to three levels of lift.
What needs does this product address?
- Natural-looking permanent colour with multidimensional nuances.
- Covering grey regrowth with a formula tailored to the amount of grey.
- Refining lightened hair in a separate Pastel toning service.
How the formula works
Microlight technology helps protect the cuticle surface during colouring, maintaining light reflection. For standard colouring, mix with Welloxon Perfect at 1:1; for the designated blonde toning method, use Pastel 1.9% at 1:2.
How to use
- For standard permanent colouring, mix one part colour with one part suitable Welloxon Perfect developer (1:1).
- Apply to dry hair for root touch-ups or full-head colouring from roots to ends. Development time without added heat is 30–40 minutes.
- For the designated blonde toning method, mix with Welloxon Perfect Pastel 1.9% at 1:2 and allow 10–15 minutes to develop.
- Rinse thoroughly. Mixing Illumina Color with Koleston Perfect in the same formula is not recommended.
For professional use. Before the service, follow the application and safety instructions on the packaging.

About the product
The Illumina Color result depends on the hair surface and light reflection as well as pigment coverage. Microlight technology helps maintain cuticle clarity for nuanced colour in different lighting. This is one of the range's distinctive characteristics, helping create the impression of natural colour depth.
For root touch-ups or permanent colouring from roots to ends, use a 1:1 mixture with a suitable Welloxon Perfect developer. Standard development without heat is 30–40 minutes. Assess grey coverage and potential lift according to the starting colour and chosen colour-developer mixture, not just the shade chart.
Toning lightened hair is a separate method using Pastel 1.9% developer and a shorter development time. It refines the tone after bleaching. Do not mix Illumina Color and Koleston Perfect together; keep the two ranges' services and mixing ratios separate.
Who is this product for?

About Wella Professionals
Wella Professionals is a professional hair brand with roots in Germany. Its history began in 1880, when Franz Ströher established his business; the Wella name was registered in 1924. The brand's development is closely connected with hairdressing, professional colouring techniques and salon services.
Today, Wella Professionals offers professional hair colour, everyday care, intensive treatments and styling products. Its care ranges allow customers to continue their salon routine at home, selecting products according to their hair's condition and the result they want.
What is Wella Professionals known for?
Professional hair colouring is a central specialism. Koleston Perfect is a permanent hair colour range, while Color Touch and Illumina Color provide additional professional colouring options. The care portfolio is organised into ranges with different purposes, including damaged hair care, smoothing and colour maintenance.
ULTIMATE REPAIR uses AHA and Omega-9 for damaged hair care. ULTIMATE SMOOTH Miracle Oil Serum contains squalane and Omega-9 and is designed to leave hair looking smoother and shinier. These ingredients relate to specific products and ranges; check other formulas individually.

Shampoos and conditioners for regular care
Suitable shampoos form the foundation of a routine. Consider scalp needs alongside hair texture, dryness and colouring. After washing, appropriate hair conditioners complement care and help tailor the routine to the needs of the lengths.
ULTIMATE REPAIR, ULTIMATE SMOOTH and ULTIMATE COLOR
ULTIMATE REPAIR is developed for damaged hair. ULTIMATE SMOOTH focuses on smoothing and nourishment, while ULTIMATE COLOR is designed for colour-treated hair. Choose a range by identifying your main concern, whether that is damage, frizz or colour maintenance.
For more intensive care, add suitable hair masks. Leave-in treatments, serums and oils offer further options. Follow each product's instructions for application order and quantity.
Professional hair colour and EIMI styling
The choice of a professional colour system depends on the intended shade, the starting condition of the hair and the colouring technique. EIMI includes mousses, hairsprays, gels and texturising products, with options for volume, hold, smoothness and definition.
Who are Wella Professionals products for?
The brand suits hairdressers and customers seeking professional haircare for a specific purpose. Individual ranges offer options for dry, damaged, coloured or unruly hair. Hair texture, product consistency and application amount also matter when choosing a routine.
